The Jersey Airport Departures Retail project involved the complete redevelopment of the retail area at Jersey Airport, offering an enlarged Duty Free outlet as well as relocation and upgrade of the bar area and restaurant facilities. This was an extremely fast-track programme which was completed during the Airport's busiest period without interruption to business as usual.Key issues of the project included:

• A 2-stage tender route.

• A very challenging timescale.

• Work carried out both during operational hours and non-operational hours – with the challenge of ensuring continued operation of the airport.

• Multiple contractor process with teams working on many different issues at the same time.

• Phased work.

Since the refurbished Departures Retail area has been opened there have been very favorable comments from the public and the new facilities have shown a marked increase in retail activity in the airport, justifying the inconvenience and cost of the works.
